It is a popular National Park which is one of the most visited sites in the entire Dooars region. The park is situated in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal along the rivers Murti and Raidak. It is spread over an area of about 80 sq km and lies on the foothills of the great Himalayas. It is a beautiful place to visit due to its large variety of flora and fauna, untouched nature and the natural habitat of the Wildlife there. In the year 2009, Ministry of Environment and Forests declared it as the best-protected area in India which was of great boost for the tourism sector here. Here, the most precious animal is the Asiatic one horned rhino but other mammals, reptiles, insects and birds, Asian elephants, the royal Bengal tigers and the Great Indian Hornbill are the treasure of the Garumara National Park. It is a great place to visit for a peace of mind and to live among Nature in its true form.
The park is also a reservoir of around 193 species of birds,7 species of turtles, 22 species of reptiles and 27 species of fishes.
